science"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Machine learning and data science are advancing rapidly, and providing new tools that could make it easier to for us to forecast oncoming changes to our lands and climate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Implementing these changes, however, requires skills that span data science and domain expertise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My projects (see posts below) include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Building a surrogate of a widely-used sea ice model<\/li><li>Using a GAN to simulate the encroachment of sand dunes on cropland<\/li><li>Identifying high-impact uses of
